The author is illiterate and the editor must be blind.I apologize for the harshness of my opening sentence but I purchased this book based on the reviews, all of which gave this book 5 stars. Since mine is the fifth review I can only assume that the first four were posted by the author under fraudulent names. I am in utter disbelief that this story was published in any form, let alone that Amazon is charging money for it. Enough complaining. I will actually critique the book for anyone who is interested as to why I took the time to write a negative review.
The writing is rife with spelling and grammatical errors. There is no story line. This story is presented like a hazy recollection of events, devoid of any actual story telling. It is almost like reading excerpts from a journal with no detail or any additional prose to connect the sequences into a cohesive tale. There is no discernable plot. It reads like a third grade book report.
The author states in the opening of the book that he began this sailing journey totally ignorant of all things sailing related. Well, apparently it was too much trouble to use Google between the time he took his trip and before writing this book.
This book is painfully stupid. It is unreadable. I want the dollar back that I paid for it because I honestly believe I was cheated by fraudulent reviews.

The Voyage of the Lima SJ Alexander 9781494952204 Books Reviews
Mr. Alexander, while honestly recounting his sailing journey would probably not have a stellar career writing any thing.
this book cost me a dollar. i got my moneys worth.
the story reads more like a fiction than a real boating adventure.
I was there. I wanted to be much less nice to the Barney Rubble female described in Mr. Alexander's piece. I, too, have known guys who at advanced age lived far more dangerously than I would allow myself to live. When I read "The Voyage of the Lima," I was reminded that I have boxed myself in far too readily while life, raw and real, has been there for me forever.
This is a real life adventure. No memoir. It happened. I loved it!
I really enjoyed this short story very much. What an exciting adventure made even more so by the fact that it is a true story! Like all well written books, this one took me to another place and made me a part of the story. I felt like I was on the boat with the author experiencing the voyage right there with him. Thanks for the fun read.
I can't believe this got on . I laughed when I saw there was someone being credited at the end for editing, that person should be shot. It is as another reviewer said, like a third grade book report. I don't care so much about losing a buck, I want the time I wasted back!
The book description was intriguing enough to spend $.99 for this short novella. I have to give the author credit for writing it all down and putting it out there. No doubt the author experienced every obstacle and challenge of an offshore ocean crossing in a small boat. The story was clearly a non-fictional account of a personal adventure shared in the company of others. Short adventure accounts like this one might encourage other first time authors to try their hand at documenting their own past adventures. I'm slightly mystified at the number of 5 star reviews and caution readers that if you expect that level of entertainment, there might be some disappointment. Regardless, I was one who bit on $.99 and a sailing story that didn't take that much time to read, so the author did alright with the marketing.
I enjoyed reading this young man's sailing experience. I chuckled out loud several times. I do think it could have had a better quality proof-reading; particularly in regard to spelling. That and it`s short abrupt ending are the main reason for 3 stars instead of 4. A good read for the price for any casual sailing enthusiasts.
